Once a department store, the transformation of the existing 135,000 square foot Petersen Automotive Museum included a new steel ribbon façade cladding which extends over the top of the building and along the garage. The existing shell of the museum remained in tact while upgrades to the entry and public areas were made, 15,000 square feet of new interactive and flexible exhibit areas added, and a renovation to the roof-top pavilion. The renovation focused on maintaining the museum’s history and culture while maximizing the experience for museum visitors and guests.
